Google's Director of New Projects, Astro Teller, speaks to Singularity University's student teams on creating a culture of innovation, and how "common sense" is often at odds with creating this culture. He is an entrepreneur, scientist, and author, with expertise in the field of intelligent technology. As of May 2014 and since 2010, Teller has been working as 'Captain of Moonshots', directing Google X laboratories where a "moonshot" is a long-term project to solve a problem with a radical (often futuristic) solution. Projects at Google X include Google Glass, Google Driverless Car, Google Contact Lens, and Project Loon. Google X also spun its project called Genie out into a stand alone business in 2012.
